The Sau Choi (“Sweeping Fist”) is one of the most powerful strikes in Choy Lay Fut. Not only is it’s sweeping motion great for tricking your opponent, but the movement of your hips puts a lot of force behind it. It is a signature Choy Lay Fut strike, so you’ll see it a lot in our forms. I could go on and on about the history behind the Sau Choi, but the real reason we are talking about it is – it makes a pretty cool picture.
Did you know that Sifu Jill has been taking awesome pictures of her Sau Choi since the very beginning of her martial arts training?

The first photo was taken in 2006 when Sifu Jill took a trip to China and visited the iconic Bruce Lee Statue in Hong Kong. The second picture was taken on Bulaba Mountain in Donegal Ireland. Fun fact- the last picture of her daughter, Sijeh Cat was taken on the exact same mountain.

These were from our recent trip to Orlando, Florida for the ICMAC tournament. While we were there we got to take a pit stop at Universal Studios.
